Justin Hoke was born in Pennsylvania. He holds a Doctorate of Philosophy from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music. His music has been performed by a variety of international ensembles. Justin is a registered BMI composer. He is interested in environmentalism; collective memory; whiteness, coldness, weightlessness, expansiveness; alien landscapes; closeness.

Beyond music, activities include culinary anthropology (culinary research and food history, esp. Chinese), translating and interpreting old cookbooks, fine-art photography, and learning languages.

Justin lives and works in Chengdu, China, where, in addition to composing, he researches, archives, and interprets the traditional cuisine of the region. (Stay tuned.)
